This pocket field guide in Bengali on the common flies and mosquitoes of our surroundings is the new inclusion in the series of identification manuals being prepared by the Board for assisting the People's Biodiversity Register- PBR exercise in West Bengal. The book along with its colour photographs and line drawings provides identification guides to 24 species of flies and 6 species of mosquitoes with their local names, common english names, scientific name, field identification characters, habitats, behaviour, population and need for conservation measure. The folk knowledge associated with each species find importance in the book. |

As per the Section -7 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, accessing bio-resources and associated traditional knowledge of the state of West Bengal requires prior intimation to the West Bengal Biodiversity Board. The intimation to the Board should be given in specified format (Form-I & Form-A) along with requisite Application Fee.
