The West Bengal Biodiversity Board has been formed on September 16, 2004 under the administrative control of Department of Environment, Government of West Bengal.

Composition of the Board

A. Chairperson: Dr. Himadri Sekhar Debnath

B. Ex-officio members:

▪Addl. Chief Secretary / Principal Secretary/ Secretary, Dept. of Environment, Govt. of West Bengal

▪Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife and Biodiversity and Chief Wildlife Warden, Directorate of Forests, Govt. of West Bengal or his/her authorised representative not below the rank of Conservator of Forests

▪Addl. Chief Secretary / Principal Secretary/ Secretary, Dept. of Agriculture, Govt. of West Bengal or his/her authorised representative not below the rank of Secretary/Director of Agriculture

▪Addl. Chief Secretary / Principal Secretary/ Secretary, Dept. of Panchayat and Rural Development, Govt. of West Bengal or his/her authorised representative not below the rank of Joint Secretary

Application for accessing bio-resources and / or associated traditional knowledge for commercial utilization

As per the Section -7 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, accessing bio-resources and associated traditional knowledge of the state of West Bengal requires prior intimation to the West Bengal Biodiversity Board. The intimation to the Board should be given in specified format (Form-I & Form-A) along with requisite Application Fee.
