The Board supported various schools and institutions to organise Bio - Tour or Jeevan Safar for school students to recognise common plants, animals and other organisms in their native environment; to promote awareness and sensibility in individuals towards environment and biodiversity, as well as to become familiar with their environmental requirements; and to encourage students to value the environment and to inspire participation in the process of improving and protecting the environment/biodiversity for the betterment of their own livelihoods. Till now several schools of different districts has been participated in this programme.
In the financial year 2020-21 and 2021-22, the Board is unable to conduct the Bio - tour programme due to the current COVID 19 pandemic situation.
As per the Section -7 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, accessing bio-resources and associated traditional knowledge of the state of West Bengal requires prior intimation to the West Bengal Biodiversity Board. The intimation to the Board should be given in specified format (Form-I & Form-A) along with requisite Application Fee.
